Good stuff - the Doom one is particularly fabulous. I really like the strong lighting reflecting from the mask and hood!

I'm not really a huge Marvel fan though, so please forgive me when i ask what these three have to do with Iron Man 2? As far as i'm aware, they're all from other titles, right?

Yeah they are, but these aren't specifically for "Marvel". Basically when you do a set of sketchcards for a given set they give you a set of blank cards to do as you wish with. So the character choices are just from the folks who comissioned them.

So that's why they aren't Iron Man related per se. :)

I think i'm beginning to understand. I've seen so many people displaying these sketchcards on their DeviantART galleries, but the art is usually of a similar theme to the cards themselves (i.e. General Grievous artwork on Star Wars) cards.

What i thought happened was that trading card companies like Topps bring out a new set of cards (like, for instance, to commemorate the release of The Phantom Menace), and that there was a set amount of spaces in that series for 'artwork' cards. Then artists would send their designs in, and the best would be added to the series... but now i'm guessing that i'm pretty mistaken. :D

So, would you please be so kind as to fill me in on the whole sketchcard thing? You're a very talented artist, so i'm guessing you're a good person to ask.

Yeah, I don't know about best person to ask. But here's the process I know, from the artist end. Usually the director on the project puts feelers out with artists he likes/used in the past that a new series coming out. In my case, I was referred by a friend, they asked to see some of portfolio, and once approved they send a set amount of cards.

Those cards have certain rules on what you can and cannot draw and the cards you draw have to be approved. All cards are than shipped back to the publisher. (Even any cards you may have sketched out but canned or whatever, it's too keep the limited ratio honest and proper)

If approved you are paid a nominal fee and than a few monthes later are sent "artist proof" cards. Which are blank cards for the artist to use at their discretion and do not need to be sent back.

Some artist commission them off, eBay them, or whatever.

And that's pretty much the process too my experience. :)
